Aged gelding, carrying 98 kilograms

Has been well out of form of late, possibly knackery bound.

Previously well tried in both weight for age and diet stakes but has remained without a win.

Now in the Jeff Corbett stable of losers so watch for an improvement although October 1 does look too long a trip .

Goal weight: 91kg

Weight loss plan: my wife’s plan

Weakness: have trouble at times listening to my wife

Biggest challenge: keeping in good with my wife

Exercise plan: perhaps the knackery may be the best choice after all

I went to a dental specialist today an endodontist and he thought i may lose a couple of teeth which i am not too keen about but it may do wonders for me in this contest.

After week one i have spared myself the embarrassment of weighing in again. On the positive side i have managed to avoid a few packets of chips and some chocholate biscuits in the pantry which i thought my wife was planning not to have available to me (BTW she never eats either and looks pretty well in drought condition most of the time ).I have also not drank any cordial but did enjoy a chocolate Messa which is an ice cream in a cone with flavouring and malt in the bottom, middle and on top plus a few other splurges.Anotherpositive has been my in laws supplying us with some very sweet and tasty mandarines which we ate instead of snacks..So while the diet improved for a week what has been missing is the regular exercise so that will need to be addressed if i am to stay in the race.

You seem to be doing well, chaff and oats. Probably the best exercise requires no fancy equipment, and that's walking. There's something very enjoyable about a brisk walk.

Hi C&O, I treat dieting like I play golf. I play against the course. In this analogy; I am my own opponent. It is very personal, those burning hunger pains. That look in the mirror, "my fat gut." It had got to the stage I did not like myself. And its my fault. Jeff's weight challenge has given me the motivation I lacked for months. I agree walking is great exercise. All the best mate

Hi C&O, yes the chips will be on the menu after I reach my goal which eventually will be between 75 -80 kilos by December. But in moderation! I will be over the moon to lose 10 kilo in Jeff's allotted 70 days. My calorie count for yesterday was 832 .I think it is becoming easier now as my tummy is not burning like it was in the first few days.

My daughter had an urge for Maccas yesterday afternoon and sat in front of me and offered a hot maccas fry (chip) I was nearly tempted to reach out. I stayed strong eventually.

Thanks Chaffy, Weighed in at 86.5 kilos this morning. No overseas trips for this old boy. Not unless it is on a slow boat via China. My event would be the Rheumatic Relay. I am feeling healthier since Jeff's Challenge. It has been an inspiration for me. How are you travelling with your program?

Hi Chaff and Oats, Yes I was happy with the 1.1 and another .7 . It's been a tough few weeks with the 2nd anniversary of my sisters death. We have been spending a lot of time together as family so that always helps. I am aiming for more gym visits this week, to hopefully lose a kilo this week. I'm now a few kilos below what I was when I fell pregnant. So that is good. Now to get back to all my slim clothes. I can't wait to feel good in swimmers again!!!!!!!

Yes C&O I do enjoy walnuts. 30g = 185 calories. That is interesting I did have a 4 acre property @ Greta and planted a Black Walnut (grafted stock) imported from California but never did see the resulting crops. However I do have a Pecan Nut Tree (Pabst variety) here in Islington I was unable to find a Western Schley at the time. My Pabst tree is under twenty year old and is rivalling the biggest trees in Islington. The cockatoos love them just as much as I do but lack respect for ripening time. My wife checked the calorie count for these similar nuts to walnuts and the calorie count is near identical 180 calories per 30 grams about 15 to twenty halves. At this time I am not indulging.
