WITHOUT wishing to exaggerate, we and Erin Brockovich have much in common. We’ve both effected change, and we’ve both been the inspiration for films*.
Here, check this out.
It’s a follow-up to our mention that Charlie the Chicken, the mascot of Charlestown Toyota, was stuck with his zany mechanical eyes rolled back in his head.
‘‘Hi Topics,’’ writes reader Vicky Scott. Hi, Vicky.
‘‘We drove past Charlie at 12.24 and his eyes were actually rolling!’’
This is big news.
It means that either Charlie’s eyes have shuddered back into their normal rotation, or that Topics’ coverage of the crisis prompted a call to Mechanical Chook Repairs ‘R’ Us.
It’s a win either way.
You’ll recall that Cooper, the little boy of the reader who alerted us to Charlie’s plight, asked if he was asleep.
Similarly, reader Vicky says that when her daughter was younger she ‘‘always checked to see if Charlie was ‘awake’ or ‘asleep’.’’
*What? We’ve been in a couple on the Newcastle Herald website.
