$3.75 tickets for Knights games

23 Mar, 2011 03:53 PM
The Tinkler Sports Group has announced a family ticketing package that will make the club's tickets the most affordable in the country for families.

Tinkler Sport Group executive chairman Ken Edwards announced the family memberships at a press conference this afternoon.

A family pass for the season for general admission would be $150, or the equivalent of $3.75 per person per match.

For reserve seating, it would be $200 for the season, or $5 per person each match.

The scheme will start from the round 10 match against the New Zealand Warriors on May 13.

Mr Edwards said he expected the family memberships would sell out.

‘‘Nathan Tinkler genuinely feels all kids deserve the right to attend home games regularly,’’ he said.

‘‘We’ve already done this with the Jets and we’ve ended up with 400 extra families attending each week.

‘‘We feel we can get to 20,000 members this way.’’

Newcastle Knights coach Rick Stone and captain Kurt Gidley were at the press conference, along with former player Mark Sargent.

The pricing plan hinges on the Tinkler Sports Group’s takeover bid for the Newcastle Knights being accepted by members at next week’s vote.

Watch the crowds come back now. Love him or Hate him but at this price there will be many families who have not previously been able to afford games now able to go..

One word....Fantastic!!

In the past it has cost my family(wife and 2 kids) a fortune to go the footy. My kids are keen to attend each home game, but in the past it has been to expensive.

This will be great for us and we would certainly purchase a family pass and attend all home games!! Vote YES for Tinkler!!

One word: AWESOME.

It's pretty much criminal to vote no now.

Going to love walking in to a packed stadium each week :)

Good news, assuming the deal goes through. One should also remember the new grandstand (funded by tax payers), allowing increased numbers to attend in relative comfort, also contributed to this outcome.

This article didn't outline the reward to current ticketed members:

“We are determined to say thank you and reward existing season ticket holders who have already paid for their tickets. Knowing how passionate they are about the club we are pleased to announce that they will receive a very special commemorative jersey. The limited edition jersey features the names of all players who have represented the Knights over the past 23 years and will not be retailed”
