ELERMORE Vale residents spoke with NSW Land and Environment Court commissioner Sue Morris this morning before a formal hearing began on the controversial mosque proposed for the suburb.
The Newcastle Muslim Association has amended plans for the mosque rejected by the Joint Regional Planning Panel last year.
The association is appealing the decision.
A delegation from the court toured the Croudace Road site this morning and spoke with six neighbours and objectors to the proposed $6.8 million development.
The formal appeal has begun and continues this afternoon.
