Cessnock Council complaints may be revealed

20 May, 2010 04:00 AM
THE NSW Government could be forced to reveal all of the complaints it has collected against Cessnock Council, following a call for papers by the Greens in Parliament.

In a process similar to a freedom of information request, the Greens won enough support in the Upper House to move that the Government issue information about the complaints Planning Minister Tony Kelly relied on when he wrote to Cessnock council on May 7, demanding that the council show cause why its planning powers should not be removed.

The Minister's office has previously said it could not make details of the complaints public due to privacy concerns.
