Getaway Beachside Resort named in world list

18 Feb, 2011 03:00 AM
CAVES Beachside Resort has enhanced the Hunter's global tourism reputation having been named one of the world's best affordable beach getaways in the American Express Travel & Leisure guide.

Up to 40 beach houses, for permanent occupants and tourists, will soon join the 18 luxurious beach suites at the resort, a short walk from Caves, Hams and Frenchman's beaches.

The resort opened in March 2009 and has been named among the 30 affordable beach getaways, according to the travel guide.

"You look at the travel guide website and there are some wonderful places around the world in the top 30 and we are among them," sales director Rob O'Brien said.

"We first found out when we received an email from New York and after a few phone calls we found out it was legitimate."

The Caves Beach recognition comes after Lonely Planet named Newcastle as one of the top-10 cities in the world to visit last year and after the Hunter was named in January among the top five holiday destinations in Australia and New Zealand in Patricia Schultz's 1000 Places to See Before You Die.
