2007 result (two-party preferred): Joel Fitzgibbon (ALP) 65.92%, Beth Black (Nationals) 34.08%.

Margin after redistribution: 16%.

Location: Hunter covers an area of about 20,111 square kilometres from Maitland in the east to Cassilis in the west, Murrurundi in the north and south to Wollombi. Towns include: Branxton, Cessnock, Denman, Kurri Kurri, Maitland, Muswellbrook, and Singleton. Map

Water, air and soil pollution, social dislocation, income disparity, political corruption and economic favouritism granted the evil coal industry that is knowingly destroying our lives, poisoning our children and threatening the future of the planet. One issue - an end to coal in all its forms and in all its derivatives.

Massive rises in electricity. water, gas, car rego, CTP greenslips caused by Labor and they want people to vote for them. I do not care if these are state issues because it still is the Labor Party.

Cessnock desperatly needs to become a swinging seat so that politians take notice.Just look at our hospital and our roads they are a descrace.Get rid of Labor.Wake up Cessnock,how many years of neglect can we take!
