Frustrated residents and paramedics are gathering evidence to take to a meeting with the NSW Ambulance Service next month.

It follows a boundary change moving the Morisset station out of the Hunter into the Sydney metropolitan area.

The Health Services Union says the shift was delaying ambulance response times.

The Ambulance Service said yesterday the change was administrative only and reassured the community services would not be reduced.

Union Hunter sub-branch president Peter Rumball said single officers were routinely on shift at Morisset.

‘‘It’s the frontline people who are taking a hammering day in and day out,’’ Mr Rumball said.

‘‘It’s obviously affecting the community quite severely.’’

An Ambulance Service spokesman said there had been no change to rostering or deployment practices since the boundary shift.

‘‘The only change is that the officer in charge reports to a different manager,’’ he said.

The spokesman said the service was concerned residents might have been unnecessarily alarmed by the claims.

Bonnells Bay Progress Association has organised tomorrow’s meeting from 7.30pm at Bonnells Bay Youth and Community Centre in Fishery Point Road.
