Maitland Regional Art Gallery lights up for children

10 Mar, 2010 04:00 AM
MAITLAND Regional Art Gallery is hoping kids will be running wild.

The gallery is showing off its children's exhibition space with a third exhibition Brighten My Day - Colour in the Everyday.

The two-storey space has been split up for the space's first curated exhibition, with the lower level providing a play space for children to explore the exhibition's educational themes through playing and interacting with the art.

The upstairs section has works from the gallery's collection chosen by education officer Lauren von Katwyk.

"Upstairs we still try to have the formality of a gallery, but we've had the works hung lower," cultural director Joe Eisenberg said.

"It's pointing out the subtle colourful things in the everyday."
