The man who tied up and robbed the wife of former police minister Michael Costa has been committed for sentence.

Mark Noel Sheehan, 38, of Sundowner Avenue, Kincumber, pleaded guilty in Newcastle Local Court this morning to aggravated break and enter.

Sheehan was living in a bush camp when he stormed into the Millfield home on April 14.

Mr Costa's wife Deborah was bound by her wrists and ankles and threatened with a large knife.

Her wallet, wine and the family's car were stolen.

Sheehan was refused bail to appear in Newcastle District Court on July 21.
