Meeting on Huntlee site suitability

30 Aug, 2011 04:00 AM
HUNTLEE developer, the LWP Property Group, will meet with Chris Richards in the next week after conceding there were outstanding issues at the North Rothbury site.

‘‘There are issues and the company is discussing those issues with him,’’ a spokesman for LWP chief executive Danny Murphy said.

‘‘Unfortunately, everything has been caught up by the appeal process.’’

Plans for the Huntlee New Town development are on hold pending an LWP appeal after the Land and Environment Court quashed a rezoning of the site.

The spokesman for Mr Murphy said the suitability of the proposed site to relocate Chris Richards’ train collection would be considered at the next stage of the development, once the appeal was determined.

‘‘The matter decided by the minister last year was to do with the rezoning. Planning and engineering assessment of the site proposed for the trains is at the next stage.

‘‘The company is very very keen to get it resolved, just like Mr Richards is.’’

Cessnock councillor James Ryan said it ‘‘really bothers me that you’ve got an important collection, with elements listed in the state register, and yet the heritage aspect clearly wasn’t consider as part of the planning process’’.
