Newcastle band Seabellies do their bit for Earth Hour

23 Mar, 2010 04:00 AM
THEY have staged some powerful performances and plan to deliver more of the same during their Australian Young Cubs & Past Lives Tour.

But the Seabellies will deliver a show with a difference in Melbourne on Saturday night as the Newcastle band does its bit to support Earth Hour.

Steph Setz, keyboard player, said the Seabellies would switch the lights off for at least one song and rely on a crowd armed with glow sticks to provide light.

"It's a great way to get the crowd involved, decked out with glow sticks and battery-powered lights," Setz said.

The band said Earth Hour was the perfect example of how every little bit, at work and home, counted when it came to cutting carbon emissions.

"We have all the proper light globes and insulation," Setz said.

The Seabellies will return from Melbourne to entertain a home crowd at The Cambridge in Newcastle from 7.30pm on Sunday.

What a load of crap this earth hour is. Turn out the lights and use torches and glow sticks which in all probability were produced in a smokey polluting factory in China.

Will they be using musical instruments that do not use electricity, fancy lighting, amplifiers and smoke machines?

Gotta be one of the worst live acts in town. I seriously don't understand the hype around this band - since when did trimming a bush on stage = good music?

Goodonya acoustic guitars and an acoustic keyboard. Mouth organ, squeeze box, acoustic guitars and drums. Sounds supreme.

i'm assuming lights out & an unplugged acoustic guitar or 2 with the mic off.. not too hard & promotes awareness.. no need to put on your angry socks guys! you'll probably forget to do it yourself
