Pressure on NSW to release Hunter health report

19 May, 2010 04:00 AM
THE State Government is under pressure to release an overdue NSW Health report about the Hunter Region.

Greens MLC Lee Rhiannon put a motion to Parliament yesterday calling for its urgent release.

"Health professionals and community groups asked for a comprehensive population health study but instead got a review of existing health data," Ms Rhiannon said.

The report was promised to study any links between the region's coal and power industries and poor health in the area.

Where are the health statistics that were promised? How many people are being made ill by what they breathe in the Hunter? The delay in the release of these figures does not bode well..
