Record crowd enjoys Lovedale Long Lunch

17 May, 2010 04:00 AM
ORGANISERS of this year's Lovedale Long Lunch have described the weekend event as the most successful in its 17-year history.

Record numbers sampled wine and food at six of the area's wineries on Saturday and yesterday.

One of the organisers Fiona Hinton-Rodgers said there was a 20 to 30 per cent increase on the number of people attending over the two days but said there was an increase of 50 per cent on Saturday's numbers. About 18,000 people attended the event over the two days last year.

"The weather was great so we were lucky in that regard," she said.

She said pre-paid ticket sales were up 15 per cent and accommodation throughout Pokolbin, Cessnock, Maitland and Newcastle was heavily booked.
