The second-biggest city in NSW was in a state of decay, Hunter Business Chamber president Scott Derwin said yesterday as he unveiled ‘‘10 big ideas to grow the Hunter’’.
The list included:
Revitalise the Newcastle CBD.
Invest $250million of coal royalties.
Complete the M2 link road at the end of the F3.
Build transport interchanges at Wickham, Glendale and Maitland.
Plan for a post-coal economy.
Relocate state government departments to the Hunter.
Establish a Hunter Transport Authority.
Increase skills training for Upper Hunter industries.
Build Hunter energy capacity with Bayswater B power station and Hunter-Queensland gas pipeline.
Quarantine land for Hexham to Fassifern rail corridor.
