THE Volendam will grace Newcastle waters today to wrap up another Hunter cruise season.
It is the first time the Holland America cruise liner has visited Newcastle's port, bringing 1400 passengers to the city as part of its 34-day cruise around Australia.
Minister for Tourism and the Hunter Jodi McKay said the ship's visit reflected Newcastle's growing popularity as a cruise ship destination.
Volendam passengers will have the chance to explore attractions in Port Stephens, Maitland, Morpeth, Newcastle and Hunter Valley, while crew members will taste some of the region's best drops during a sampling of local wines.
