ACTRESS Naomi Watts, 43, finished a morning of filming at Seal Rocks yesterday with a dip in the ocean.
Watts was working on her latest film The Grandmothers with Hollywood import and Forrest Gump star Robin Wright.
Dressed in blue one-piece swimsuits, hats and sunglasses, the women sat together on the pristine beach and performed close-up scenes until about 1pm.
The beach location attracted a pod of dolphins, who swam offshore during filming, as well as many onlookers.
Fisherman Bernie King, who has lived at Seal Rocks for 30 years and been instrumental in fighting attempts to develop one of the coast’s most beautiful spots, has welcomed the movie stars and crew.
‘‘They’re very friendly people. Naomi Watts gave us a wave when she arrived at the beach this morning,’’ he said.
Mr King said most of the houses on the stretch of beach where filming was taking place were holiday rentals and had been rented out to people working on the movie.
He said disruption to Seal Rocks residents had been minimal despite extra traffic on the roads and films crews.
About a year ago, Screen Hunter Central Coast manager Annette Hubber helped location scouts who were looking for a remote spot with an open beach and nearby countryside.
With a budget of about $16million, The Grandmothers began filming at Seal Rocks on Tuesday and is expected to continue for seven weeks.
The French-Australian co-production stars Watts and Wright as two lifelong friends who fall in love with each other’s sons, played by Aussies Xavier Samuel (The Twilight Saga) and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom).
The film is expected to be released in 2013 in Australia.
