Wheelchair athlete Kurt Fearnley begins assault on Kokoda

08 Nov, 2009 10:32 PM
NEWCASTLE athlete Kurt Fearnley has begun his assault on the Kokoda Trail, using a mobile phone to blog his progress.

Track Kurt's progress by clicking here.

The wheelchair speedster will shed his chair and take on the gruelling 96-kilometre trail that served as a vital avenue for Australian troops in World War II and a rite of passage for many patriots since.

Fearnley will use his hands and arms to traverse the challenging terrain to raise awareness of men's health issues and the charity Movember.

Fearnley recently triumphed in the New York Marathon, making it his fourth consecutive victory in the event.
