NEWCASTLE Olympian Suzy Batkovic-Brown will learn today whether her Women's National Basketball League season is over.
The 29-year-old powerhouse will have an MRI scan on her left knee, which she injured when she fell in the third quarter of the Sydney Uni Flames' 77-73 road victory over Townsville on Friday.
Batkovic-Brown scored a game-high 28 points in 25 minutes before suffering the injury, which could rule her out of the finals, which begin in two weeks.
"I haven't spoken to her but I know she was pretty upset after the game," Flames operations manager Trish Fallon said.
"She may have realised that that could be the end of the season for her. She's had a pretty good season and it's a bit of a bummer coming into finals time."
Sydney are third, sharing a 16-5 win-loss record with Canberra behind Bulleen (20-1).
The Flames could finish second as they wind up the regular season at home against Perth (2-18) on Saturday and Canberra travel to Bulleen.
"It's big shoes to fill if she's not there," Fallon said of Batkovic-Brown.
"Someone else has got to pick up the slack, what she offers in points and rebounds, but in saying that there's been a couple of games where she's been in foul trouble and the girls have played pretty well and stepped up and won."
