PAST players will cheer on the current squads when the Newcastle Hunters host Sutherland in a Waratah Australian Basketball League double-header at Broadmeadow tonight.
Newcastle Basketball officials have also scheduled three curtain-raisers featuring the State League women and Youth League men's and women's teams, and hope to make a clean sweep to celebrate their annual Hunters reunion night.
Needing to win to stay in the women's finals race, the sixth-placed Hunters (6-7) take on the ninth-placed Sharks (2-10) at 5pm.
Sutherland have been Newcastle's only victims in the men's competition this season. The Hunters upset the three-time defending champions 82-69 at Sutherland three months ago and, 10 straight losses later, will try to shock the Sharks at 7pm.
The unbeaten Youth League men's Hunters play Central Coast Power and the fifth-placed Youth League women, who also appear finals-bound, take on 10th-placed Sutherland, both at 3pm.
Newcastle's State League women's team need to beat Dubbo at 5pm to remain in finals contention.
