Hunters hope to end on high

25 Jul, 2009 05:00 AM
NEWCASTLE will be playing for pride in tomorrow's final game of the Waratah Australian Basketball League season against Bankstown Bruins at Broadmeadow.

That is all they have left after securing the wooden spoon last weekend after a disastrous season that has netted just two wins.

Skipper Mat McGovern has been the standout player in an unsuccessful season for the proud club.

The Hunters women have lost their past three matches to slip to seventh on the ladder and must beat the competition leading Bruins to be a chance of sneaking into the play-offs.

Preliminary finals of the Central Junior League kick-start a big day at Broadmeadow from 8.30am tomorrow.
