Hunters women take aim at Bears

16 May, 2009 05:00 AM
THE Newcastle Hunters will try to avenge their round-six loss to Norths Bears in a crucial Waratah Australian Basketball League women's game at Broadmeadow today.

The Bears exploited their height advantage in a 77-61 victory over Newcastle at North Sydney on April 18, but the Hunters, fresh from a bye last weekend, are keen to reverse that result at 5pm at Newcastle Basketball Stadium.

"They've got some really big girls and they sort of wore us down last time we played them, so hopefully we can do a better job this time," Hunters guard Katie Ebzery said.

Newcastle are sixth with a 4-4 win-loss record after splitting their road trip to Hornsby and Hills District a fortnight ago. Norths (5-3) are fifth.

The last-placed Hunters men (1-7) will try to upset fifth-placed Norths (5-3) at 7pm.
