Ben Crampton primed for shot at title-holder

19 Jun, 2009 05:00 AM
CESSNOCK boxer Ben "Bazooka" Crampton finally has the chance tonight to get his hands on Junior Talipeau's Australian middleweight title.

The two will clash at Sutherland Entertainment Centre in what will no doubt be a fiery clash.

"They've been lined up a couple of times, but they've finally got the courage up to have a go at Ben," Ben's brother and promoter Jamie said.

"There's a little bit of bad blood there, and Talipeau has been saying some things about Ben but hasn't come to the party."

Talipeau was finally forced to defend his title when Crampton beat Ade Alfons in a unanimous points decision in April.

Crampton, 31, had to vacate the International Boxing Federation Australasian middleweight and International Boxing Organisation Asia Pacific super-middleweight titles in order to face Talipeau.
