FORMER rugby league internationals John Hopoate and Solomon Haumono will headline a history-making all-heavyweight boxing program at Newcastle Entertainment Centre on Friday, December 4, it was announced today.

Hopoate will fight fellow Sydney-sider Michael Kirby in the main event for the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Australasian heavyweight title and Haumono will take on Perth-based South African Pieter Cronje in a non-title bout as part of the first all-heavyweight fight card in Australian boxing history.

Current Australian heavyweight champion Colin Wilson will defend his title against Justin Whitehead and Newcastle fighters Bobby "Two Guns" Tuimaualuga, in his professional debut, and Daniel "The Doberman" Ammann will also feature on the undercard.
