JETS goalkeeper Ben Kennedy does not have Fox Sports connected at home.
But if he did, the in-form shot-stopper would be able to compile a nice highlights reel.
The 25-year-old picked up his third ‘‘save of the week’’, awarded by former Socceroos keeper and Fox football analyst Mark Bosnich, for his double effort in the 2-0 loss to Perth Glory on Saturday.
Kennedy produced a spectacular dive, thrusting a strong hand up to push a stinging long-range shot from Adam Hughes onto the crossbar.
He then bounced to his feet and was able to put enough pressure on Steve McGarry to force the Scotsman to direct the rebound onto the woodwork.
‘‘I saw it all the way but it swerved late,’’ Kennedy explained. ‘‘I was lucky to get a finger to it and push it onto the crossbar.
‘‘I didn’t know where the ball went. I managed to get up pretty quick and put some pressure on him, which hopefully contributed to him missing.
‘‘It would have been nice if it had gone over the bar so I didn’t have to get up again.’’
Kennedy was unaware that Bosnich had chosen his above the rest but said it was ‘‘one of my better saves’’.
‘‘I don’t watch the show but it is nice to get some recognition, I guess,’’ Kennedy said when told of the award.
After a patchy start to the season, Kennedy has struck career-best form, which included saving a penalty in local derby against Central Coast last month.
He has five clean sheets this season and is growing in confidence with every game.
‘‘I’m fitter than I have ever been,’’ Kennedy said. ‘‘With that you feel sharper.’’
Kennedy’s spike in performance has followed a one-year contract extension he signed last month.
The Jets announced on the same day that Olyroos keeper Mark Birighitti would join the club next season, providing new competition for Kennedy.
‘‘I have not really thought about that,’’ he said. ‘‘I’m worried about my own performances. If I perform well enough I will keep my spot.’’
Jets coach Gary van Egmond has been happy with Kennedy’s progress.
‘‘He seems to have a lot more confidence, but again it is more consistency of play which always helps,’’ van Egmond said.
Van Egmond also believes the change in goalkeeping coaches from Clint Gosling to Bob Catlin has had an impact.
Kennedy faces another test against a desperate Adelaide United at Hunter Stadium tomorrow night.
Captain Jobe Wheelhouse (groin) resumed running yesterday but is unlikely to be risked against the Reds.
The Jets enter the clash in seventh place on 28 points, two points adrift of Melbourne Heart. Adelaide are ninth on 23 points.
The Jets fought out 1-all draw with the Reds in their last meeting in Bathurst on January 25.
