CHRIS Wheeler has spent the past month cooped up in the grandstand and growing more and more frustrated.
But the 19-year-old will finally be able to vent his frustrations tomorrow when he makes his debut for Broadmeadow against South Cardiff at Wanderers Oval.
Wheeler signed a short-term deal with Magic a month ago while on summer break from his US college side, Mount St Mary's.
Due to red tape in getting him cleared to play in the Northern NSW State League, Wheeler has been forced to watch from the sidelines.
The former Edgeworth wide midfielder made an impressive transformation into a target man in his first season of a four-year deal with Mount St Mary's, equalling the college's goal-scoring record of 12 and winning the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year award.
That is the type of form Magic coach Peter McGuinness wants to see.
"I haven't had him in any shape at training yet because we didn't know when he would be cleared, so we're going to have a look at him in several positions at training tomorrow," McGuinness said yesterday.
"He'll be in the front third and we might play two up front."
There is no doubt about where Wheeler hopes to play.
"Hopefully I'll play up front that's where I've been playing in America but it's all down to the coach," he said.
"I feel like I've improved and it'll be good to play the level I played before I left to see where I'm at."
Wheeler will have eight matches with Magic, taking him to round 19, before he returns to the US to begin pre-season training.
"When I get over there we start our pre-season, so rather than just running over here I want to get a few games in and keep my fitness up," he said.
"Hopefully I can help the boys out.
"They're going well, but we can always improve, and hopefully I can do that."
Another major point of interest for Magic tomorrow will be how they cope without skipper and central midfielder John Bennis, who flew to Europe last night to trial for six weeks with Scottish first-division clubs.
The loss of experience from Bennis's departure will be tempered by the return of club captain and defender David Baillie from suspension.
In other matches, fourth-placed Hamilton Olympic have a chance to gain ground on the top three when they host Valentine Phoenix at Darling Street Oval.
West Wallsend face a potential danger game in their chase for the top four when they travel to Peacock Field to face Toronto-Awaba, and Weston clash with Edgeworth at Weston Park.
