Ljubo signs on with Jets for another year

19 Mar, 2010 09:53 AM
NEWCASTLE Jets have struck another significant blow in the recruitment stakes with Ljubo Milicevic agreeing to a one-year extension.

Milicevic had attracted interest from new club Melbourne Heart and also China but opted for the lifestyle of the Hunter.

The former Socceroo joined The Jets at the start of their Asian Champions League campaign 13 months ago and has rejuvenated his career.

The signature of the influential defender follows the announcement on Tuesday that exciting winger Ali Abbas had signed a new one-year deal, completing the Jets retention list.

This is really good to see. We are keeping the hard working nucleus of the team together. I hope the fans come back to the games now along with one or two new faces in the team that add that killer sting that we need.

Congratulations Ljubo, this is fantastic news, you are a great asset to our club. The Newcastle Jets have been quietly going about their business and are getting great results on and off the park. Player retention this year has been the best on record and the playing group have a great reputation with a clean image. The club has recently launched next seasons membership program and there are some very good packages on offer. The club has also developed a sound community program and are are doing plenty of positive things with the local junior clubs, local schools and charities. It is all positive news coming out of the Jets camp and the Jets Admin need to be applauded. I hope the local business community take note and that a major sponsor can get behind the club. Well done to John Tsatsimas and his staff - keep up the good work.

Credit where credit is due. Jets recruitment since GVE left has been exceptional. Hopefully another skillful ball playing midfielder, like Vignarolli or Song. But off the park the Jets recruitment has been fantastic.
