NORTHERN NSW State League rivals Weston and Valentine Phoenix will face off in the final of the Solo Cup.
The two teams advanced to the grand final of the state knockout competition after defeating Broadmeadow Magic and Toronto Awaba in semi finals at BCU International Stadium in Coffs Harbour yesterday.
Weston beat Magic 3-2 and Valentine defeated Toronto 3-1.
The Newcastle sides were too good for their northern counterparts in the quarter-finals on Saturday.
Weston beat Coffs United 4-1, Magic accounted for Maclean 6-1, Phoenix defeated Woolgoolga 3-0, and Toronto, who sit in last place in the Northern NSW State League, thumped Oxley Vale Attunga 8-3.
The grand final will be played in Newcastle on August 7.
In state league catch-up games played on Saturday, Edgeworth defeated Hamilton Olympic 3-2 and West Wallsend returned to form after last weekend's crushing 8-0 defeat by Hamilton to beat South Cardiff 1-0.
Edgeworth, Weston and West Wallsend sit at the top of the table on 27 points, but Weston have the top spot on goal difference.
First division powerhouses Lake Macquarie continued their 100 per cent run with a 4-2 win over Belmont Swansea yesterday.
In other matches Maitland thrashed Wallsend 9-0, Charlestown beat Thornton 3-0 and Cessnock downed Singleton 4-1. The Lambton-Adamstown match was postponed.
In Newcastle Herald Women's Premier league action, Northern NSW EAP proved they could match it with the best by drawing 2-2 with leaders Broadmeadow.
Merewether United beat Edgeworth 1-0 and Adamstown downed Valentine Phoenix 3-2.
