SARAH Kemp believes she can win the Australian Ladies Masters at Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast this week.
And the Tuncurry professional had good reason to think she can realise a dream after finishing second to Laura Davies in the New Zealand Women's Open at Christchurch on Sunday.
The 24-year-old said the only thing that let her down was her putting and she plans to fix that with coach Ian Triggs today and tomorrow before lining up against an impressive Masters field.
"The organisers are saying it's the best field they've ever had, and several of the top 10 players in the world will be here," Kemp said yesterday.
"We've got the top-10 Australian players all here, so to win it amongst this company would be amazing.
"I'd love to win majors and all that sort of stuff, but the Australian Open or Masters or something at home has a real soft spot in my heart."
Kemp led the New Zealand tournament heading into the final day but was overtaken by playing partner and former world No.1 Laura Davies.
Davies shot a four-under-par final-round 68 and Kemp could only manage a 71 to finish at seven under par, two shots adrift of Davies.
"I played really solid golf and hung in there until the end, but I could have played better on Saturday," Kemp said of her third-round 74.
"I felt I left a few shots out there on Saturday and when I do some work with my coach I want to work on my putting because I wouldn't mind holing a few more putts.
"But Laura's super tough and I always knew she wasn't going away."
Kemp has been in sensational form since arriving home from her second season on the US LPGA Tour.
She won twice on the pro-am circuit, including a popular win at the Branxton Pro-Am in January, and finished fifth at the Canberra Ladies Classic.
Her second placing in New Zealand gave her the confidence to win heading into the Masters starting on Thursday.
"I think I can win, definitely," Kemp said.
"I've had a really good start to the year and if I can look at my putting and get that a bit better, the rest of my game is really solid."
Kemp will be joined at the Masters by Magenta Shores touring professional Nikki Garrett, Newcastle's Donna Southam and Nelson Bay's Cherie Byrnes.
The final field will be announced this afternoon.
