The well-bred filly has not raced since July 14 last year when she bolted in by 11/4 lengths at Warwick Farm over 1200 metres.

That win improved the three-year-old's record to a win and two seconds from three starts.

Today Zingaling returns in the McGrath Foundation Ladies Lunch Handicap over 1100m at Rosehill.

Zingaling is by champion sire Redoute's Choice from Done That, which makes her a half sister to strong stayer Rainbow Styling.

Owner David Baxter, of Macquarie Stud, decided to keep the filly rather than put her through the sales ring.

"Dad [the late Max Lees] trained the mare Done That for David and she was a smart performer," Kris Lees said. "Max had a good opinion of Done That and it looks like she is doing the job as a broodmare as well."

So impressive was Zingaling at her last race that Lees immediately decided to give her a good break.

"I thought she could go out in good form and hopefully a good long spell would improve her even more," Lees said.

Lees said Zingaling had matured during her break, which showed in a win and a second at two trials this month.

The filly has always had ability but had no idea what racing was about in her first preparation.

"She showed in her last run she was getting the idea and now I just hope she is ready to go on with the job," Lees said.

"She is in a hot field on Saturday, but I expect her to race well.

"There could be a nice win in her the way she is going right now."
