Broadmeadow trainer Darren Smith confirmed that the Hall of Fame jockey would have his first ride for him in the Irwin Stakes over 1100 metres when Madame Pedrille makes her Adelaide debut.

Smith is yet to finalise a rider for Madame Pedrille in the $300,000 Sportingbet Classic, also known as the group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes for fillies and mares, on March 20.

Corey Brown was to have ridden Madame Pedrille in the weight-for-age Irwin Stakes, but he was suspended on Friday at Randwick.

Brown is heading to Dubai to ride but was to have flown back for the Adelaide meeting next Monday, which features a rich Magic Millions race for two-year-olds and the Adelaide Cup.

He has been allowed by stewards to take up his trip to Dubai, but his suspension starts immediately after he is finished riding there.

Brown was suspended for a further five meetings after causing interference on Ambers Waltz when runner-up to Chance Bye in the Silver Slipper at Rosehill on Saturday.

When Brown's initial suspension became news late on Friday a scramble began to gain the plum ride on Madame Pedrille.

"On Saturday the phone did not stop ringing," Smith said. "Damien Oliver said he would be keen to take the ride, so how could you knock back the best around?"

Smith said Madame Pedrille had a hit-out at Flemington on Saturday morning.

"She has settled in well in Melbourne," he said.

Smith had his first success since returning from a three-month ban when he landed a winning double at Gosford on Thursday.

"I think the stable is settling down to its old routine," he said.
