Bilbie Dan out to seal finals spot

31 Jul, 2010 05:00 AM
THE battle for the final semi-final spot in the Newcastle open netball championship could be decided today if Bilbie Dan beat Commonwealth Hotel at National Park.

Bilbie Dan hold a two-point advantage and a win would secure fourth spot with one round remaining before the play-offs.

The only other scheduled game between the teams this season was washed out.

Commonwealth have a superior goal difference and would leapfrog Bilbie Dan with a win today.

For Commonwealth, their representative goal shooter Claire Brennan will be the key up front and defender Kim Ridgeway will have a busy afternoon marking Bilbie Dan goal shooter Lucy Geise.

In other matches, minor premiership-bound Nova should have little trouble accounting for Lakeside Village Tavern, wooden spooners BNC Albion 1B face the second-placed Nags and BNC Albion 1A take on the Junction Hotel.
