Nags Head deny Junction revenge

18 May, 2009 05:00 AM
THERE was no grand final revenge for Junction Hotel 1 in the Newcastle open netball championship on Saturday after defending premiers Nags Head held off their challengers 23-21.

Both sides came into the match as equal competition leaders with BNC 1.

Goalscoring was at a premium due to tight defence from Junction's former Hunter Jaegers circle defender Katie Bradstock.

Bradstock spent the match marking Nags Head's shooter Stephanie Torville, who was her side's top goalscorer along with Danielle Harvey.

BNC 1 also stayed top of the table with a 45-30 win over Bilbie Dan.

Lakeside Village Tavern continued their strong start after being promoted to the open championships this season with a 38-34 win over Hotel Premier. Junction Hotel 2 beat BNC 2 51-34 in the other match.
