 Don't dump on Birubi

Don't dump on Birubi

04 Feb, 2010 11:41 AM
READERS might recall my letter regarding Birubi Beach being used as a tip ("Our paradise is at risk" 6/1).

Not to mention the dangerous driving.

After contacting the National Parks and Wildlife Service concerning where one can legally camp and the rules that need to be observed, the officer I spoke to not only provided the information over the phone but forwarded by post associated maps and the rules and regulations concerning the Port Stephens area's parks.

Surely now there can be no excuse of ignorance from the multitudes who holiday every year and soil the beach.

Well done National Parks and Wildlife Service. The information is there for all to read. It's that simple.

It is easy, What you take in as servicable goods, you take out as rubbish and deposit that rubbish in the nearest garbage bin. My wife and I owned caravans over eighteen years, now we travell in a motor home and do a lot of free camping, but we leave no rubbish unless it is in a bin. It is easy.

It all comes down to respect, simple as that. Respect the environment and put your rubbish in the bin. People want to clean up after you about as much as you want to clean up after others. Its time people wake up to themselves before the council or National Parks or whoever close the area for camping. Then the same people who leave their rubbish will bitch and moan about restrictions etc. Personal responsibility and clean up after yourself. Its not rocket science. You know those plastic shopping bags from wolllies etc, re use them as your garbage bag, then tie it off and place it in the BIN.

You take out what you take in. Glad bags are dear. One thing you can leave on the beach is a message. I HAD A GREAT DAY.
