 Get them off the street

Get them off the street

12 Aug, 2010 05:00 AM
THE organiser of the Cessnock car show has put on some good events and the Revfest event at the Cessnock airport last year was another well-organised event. I go to events all over the state and the Summernats in Canberra is a good example of large crowds well behaved.

The police have all the rights to stop hoon behaviour, but don't ruin great events for the sake of one or two hoons. Newcastle needs a drag strip where all these events can be held with supervision. This could help keep hoon behaviour off our streets.

A large, well-organised event would promote Newcastle and the Hunter and bring people to our region.

Newcastle needs a lot of things. A drag strip is not one of them. If all Novocastrians had a vote and we compiled a list of Newcastle’s wants and needs, a drag strip would appear at the very bottom of a very long list of items, if at all.

Maitlander, do we need all the football fields? no not really but that doesnt mean alot of people dont want them, in South Australia the government have gone out of there way to stop the Adelaide Motorplex consortium from spending there own money to build a dragstrip, for what reason? well they have said they wont build a track for hoons (they wont be building it and its not for hoons), not to mention all the ignorant public that cry about the tracks we do have, be it because a track 40km is to loud or because they seem to think when people are done at the track there just going to race home

You can usually pick the ones telling the truth is the ones that Tony Abbott hardly says much but Julia Gillard nervously has plently to whinge about loudly in public places. Yes she's quite tense and must be smoking a thousand cigarettes and ten bottles of rum a day to calm her nerves. I was a Labor supporter before I lost my investment with the whole country of Ausssie battlers too.
