 Heat on the sceptics

Heat on the sceptics

24 Aug, 2010 05:00 AM
THERE are about 14 million voters in Australia and less than 20,000, or 0.14 per cent, voted for the Climate Sceptics Party on Saturday.

About nine out of 10 climatologists say climate change is real and humans are involved.

Given both these figures, in my opinion, it's not hard to see the so-called sceptics are masters of perception and deception.

Hear! Hear! Succint and well put. The only thing I would change is that they are not sceptics they are deniers.

I'm a sceptic denier and it's obvious that an overwhelming majority are just uninformed about the truth.

it may just be a commentary on the efficacy on "one policy" groups. Having said that, anyone who thinks that reducing our footprint isn't worth striving for is deluded

Are you telling us John, that this proves there are less than 20,000 climate sceptics in Australia? Perhaps you didn't really understand what we were voting for last weekend.

A carbon TAX will not reduce the footprint if climate change is brought about by carbon output then the powers that be must implement legislation to reduce the output. I am sick and tired of the fallacy that a tax will change everthing

0.14%, of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, only 0.16% of it is human created Carbon dioxide. If only the small percentage of sceptic voters had the same influence as the 0.16% of greenhouse gases has on the Earth.

Mr. Hayes, other issues were the foremost when I caste my vote. But I'm still a skeptic.

I tried being a sceptic, I also tried to avoid the whole subject for a long time, I refused to even watch documentaries on the subject It caused to much unhappiness & concern within me. I truly wish that It would all just go away, it would make life so much easier and I would sleep a lot better If I could only just convice myself that all those climate scientists are all wacko. But I just can't ignore it regardless how much easier life would be if I could. The sceptics & deniers truly are lucky people to have such calm confidense that climate change is nothing to be concerned about. It's the scientific facts that worry and how many of those 20,000 hold positions of power & influence.

Yeah, only 8 % voted Green so 92% of us don't believe in the green religion scams.

John. I expect of the 92% that didn't vote green voted for a party that has accepted Climate Change Science and has a Carbon reduction policy, all but 20,000 though. It won't go away no matter how much you deniers Poo Poo it. Rural communities & Farmers have a front row seat to the climate changes. They see the changes to birds & animals breeding cycles which are getting out of whack with the traditional seasons. These seem to be changing their start & finish dates. Ask how many of them are deniers. Rural Australia is already starting to have major changes to land & water use as well as traditional farming practice areas. Many have had their property rights taken by government with new laws that lock up & claim Carbon Credits as Vegetation on private property, many farms are now unviable. In the recent drought many had their irrigation allocations cut to 8% so Coal Mines could retain 100% to spray on dust. Are these the actions of denying Governments? It seems most of the deniers live in the Cities & Suburbs as you can't see these changes very well from the Beach or the Coal Loader. How many of this 20,000 work in the Office selling off Coal Mine Leases for $$$$$?
