 Julia looks after herself

Julia looks after herself

10 Feb, 2012 08:24 AM
GREENS leader Bob Brown has declared that there is too much pressure being put on Julia Gillard and that it’s unfair.

Surely this is the dumbest thing he has ever said.

Julia Gillard has proved she has what it takes to mix it with the boys when it comes to dirty politics.

She has risen to the top of the shambling mess that is the federal Labor Party. She became prime minister by stabbing her colleague in the back and has survived, I believe, on slick manoeuvres and dodgy political deals ever since.

I believe it’s every other politician who needs protection from Julia Gillard. What a role model for all young women who have ambitions of power. Julia Gillard has shown them the way. She is a political Amazon.

Patrick, you sum it up well about the mess that the Labor Party is. Surely for one moment you truly do not belive that Julia would still be leader if there was someone else to replace her with?

If the Labor party is in such a mess then how come they are able to get legislation through the Lower House and the Senate so effectively? Given all the young, smart and energetic women on the Labor front bench, could your own misogyny be the problem?

I am sure Bob Brown has said even dumber things than that statement. Julia will get no sympathy from me and I believe she deserves to be denigrated.

Julia Gillard - so full of promise to provide leadership, yet so stumbling, faltering and boring in delivery. The carbon tax (or trading scheme - whatever) is inevitable, as is a minerals resource rent tax. But what a miserable effort to sell the thing to the voters!

Sack Conroy, dump Thompson and dull Abbott's blade by exposure of his duplicity to the public, Prime Minister, and you will have earned my respect.

Feargal- The Tories are the only party able to sell their message. Why? Because they have the Murdoch media and all the conserative jurnos banging away. Radio shock jocks declaring "leftist" anyone not agreeing with them. Television and radio stations owned and controlled by people with ecconmic interestes in having a more "friendly to them" government, read Torys. If you think that the people of Australia have little voice, consider the non Liberal parties, regardless of who they are, and what prospect they have of selling their ideas in the current political environment. Democracy?

hey bettered, ever heard of the ABC? Fairfax press? In my opinion the lefties get plenty of column space and airtime. In any event, trying to pick the dumbest thing Bob Brown has ever said is too tough a challenge.
