CONGRATULATIONS must go to Minmi Public School for showing initiative and installing flashing warning lights outside the school ("Shielding their zone" Herald 29/4).
It is obvious to me that if it had been left to the State Government and the RTA, the lights would never have been installed.
I understand the RTA had decided the street outside the school, Woodford Street, wasn't busy enough to warrant warning lights.
On the other hand some forward-thinking person at the RTA deemed the corner of Minmi Road and Woodford Street both busy and dangerous enough to install traffic lights.
I believe these lights are not all that far from the school grounds.
