Herald raises $5k with pink paper

NEWCASTLE Herald readers have helped raise a massive $5000 for the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation through the publication’s ‘‘Pink Paper’’.

Newcastle Newspapers general manager Julie Ainsworth yesterday presented Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation committee members with a cheque from the annual fund-raiser.

Ten cents from every edition of the Newcastle Herald sold on October 22 went to the local organisation.

The foundation helps Hunter breast cancer patients with everyday needs such as providing transport to and from their medical appointments.

Ms Ainsworth said funds would stay in the region to help Hunter patients.

‘‘The pink paper has played an important role over the years in raising awareness of the work Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation does for breast cancer in the region,’’ she said.
