A FORMER Gladiator bikie has been hospitalised with broken legs and a fractured skull in the latest act of violence to hit the gang’s Maitland chapter.
The man, 42, had his Holden Barina rammed as he drove along an East Maitland street before he was set upon about 9.30pm.
A police statement said the car was rammed near the intersection of Mitchell and Worcester drives by a white Ford Falcon.
‘‘Two men were seen to get out of the Ford and allegedly assault the man,’’ the statement said.
‘‘Initial inquiries have revealed a number of other people, travelling in a light coloured sedan, may have been involved in the assault.’’
The man was left lying on the road and was helped by nearby residents.
He remains in John Hunter Hospital awaiting surgery for serious head and leg injuries.
The victim is a former member of the Gladiators, a gang which has seen a president shot earlier this year and two former members later charged over the attempted murder.
