JEREMY Brockie came back to haunt his old club with a brace of goals as the Wellington Phoenix extended their winning streak over the Jets to six with a 3-0 win at Hunter Stadium today.
Let go by the Jets at the end of last season, the Kiwi gave a reminder of his predator instincts with goals in the 44th and 82nd minute.
Paul Ifill completed the shutout in the 87th minute when he converted from the penalty spot after substitute Ben Totori was brought down by Josh Mitchell.
The loss was the biggest by the Jets since their 5-2 loss to Wellington on December 23, 2011 and takes the margin against the Phoenix for the past six games to an incredible 16-2. .
In a horror night for the home side, goal keeper Mark Birighitti was carried off on a stretcher after copping an accidental knee to the head from Brockie midway through the second half.
Brockie, who was the Jets equal leading goal-season with nine, opened the Phoenix account when he got in behind Tiago and taped in a cross from Paul Ifill.
The defeat was the Jets third for the campaign and leaves them on 12 points.
