Alleged fake photographer on sexual assault charges

A MAN who police allege claimed he was a professional photographer and asked for naked pictures of two young teenagers has been charged with aggravated sexual assault against the two girls.

Detectives from the Child Abuse Squad at Newcastle arrested the man at 8am today at Jesmond and charged him with three counts of aggravated sexual assault after investigations into two alleged sexual assaults.

Police allege the man approached the girls online via social media and told them he was a professional photographer, looking for models.

They allege the man requested naked photos and arranged to meet the girls for a photo shoot.

One girl was allegedly sexually assaulted at Maitland and the other at Charlestown.

The man has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count each of aggravated indecent assault and intimidation.

He was refused bail and will tomorrow face Newcastle Local Court.

Newcastle Child Abuse Squad detectives said investigations were continuing.

They have asked anyone else with information to come forward.
