THE Hunter’s youngest ballerinas were transformed into princesses for the day as they took to the stage for the annual Tiny Tutus recital.
There were twirls, fairy runs and a few leaps but the 80 youngsters who performed at Lake Macquarie Performing Arts Theatre on Saturday received the biggest applause after a cheeky smile or a blown kiss.
Tiny Tutus owner Simone Cadell said the preschool ballet program introduces children, aged 18 months to five years, to classical ballet and beginner elements of jazz while encouraging imagination and creativity.
‘‘We have a structure, a format and a curriculum but it’s all about fun and happiness and a positive experience for these kids,’’ she said.
‘‘These girls got to be a princess on stage for the day, which is every little girl’s dream.’’
