I FIND it insulting and astounding that the person my rates help to pay to lead Lake Macquarie City Council reportedly refuses to comment to the Herald on the woeful fiscal results being put forward by council bean counters in detail until at least 2017 (‘‘Deficit tipped to top $27m’’ Herald 23/11).
Mr Bell and management, we don’t pay you more than the prime minister to offer no comment whenever things get a bit tough and the Herald asks legitimate questions on behalf of ratepayers. If the mayor of this city doesn’t march in and instruct the general manager to answer media questions then perhaps we need another election.
Perhaps Mr Bell could explain to me, as a ratepayer, the benefits of running such a huge deficit because it might help me with the running of the household budget.
