Engineering graduates from Newcastle University

THE engineering faculty turned out its fair share of bright sparks yesterday at graduation ceremonies at the University of Newcastle.

The region’s next generation of architects, surveyors and civil, chemical and electrical engineers were officially farewelled at Callaghan Campus.

In graduation ceremonies up until April 21, 3900 university students will tip their hat to the chancellor.

Among those who graduated yesterday were seven engineering faculty students, each from a different field, who were awarded the university medal for their consistent record of exceptional academic achievement.

They were Reginald Baker, architecture, James Curry, chemical engineering, Timothy Evans, civil engineering, Scott Eftimovski, building, Nathan Marks, electrical engineering, Luke Babic, environmental engineering and Joshua Frost, surveying.

Reginald Baker was also the student speaker and reminded his peers the challenge was to continue to grow.

‘‘While we have finished our formal education we haven’t finished our educational life,’’ he said.
