POLICE have rushed to the Thornton Shopping Centre after an off-duty police officer attempted to intervene in an armed robbery.
A man entered the Henny Penny store on Taylor Avenue about 7.50pm with a balaclava covering his face and armed with a knife.
An off-duty police officer contacted emergency services and witnesses attempted to detain the man.
Police now have a man in custody.
