NEWCASTLE is one destination American rapper Flo Rida is unlikely to forget despite never stepping foot in the city.
The performer has been ordered to compensate Fat as Butter organisers for not showing up to their festival last year.
On Friday, Flo Rida, also known as Tramar Dillard, was ordered to pay $80,000 in performance and damage fees to the promoter Brent Lean from Mothership Music in the NSW District Court.
If he does not comply, he will have his assets in Australia frozen, Judge Judith Gibson ordered.
Mothership had paid Dillard an upfront $55,000 appearance fee before the performance. They are also claiming an additional $25,000 in damages.
Flo Rida disappointed 13,000 Fat as Butter fans when he failed to turn up to Newcastle in October.
Festival promoter Mr Lean was left furious after he received a phone call from Flo Rida’s touring manager from Sydney just two hours before the star was due to perform. The star was reported to be unhappy with his Sydney accommodation.
