Man bashed during home invasion

A MAN suffered significant injuries when he was bashed with a baseball bat and a lump of wood during a Cooks Hill home invasion last night, police said.

The man, 27, was in bed with his 22-year-old partner when he heard bashing on the door of their Kitchener Parade home about 8.30pm.

As the man walked into his living room, several men stormed the front door and attacked him with the bat and piece of wood.

A female ran into the bedroom to subdue the 22-year-old female.

The victim was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment.

Police do not believe the attack was random.
