DANNY Buderus has been an inspirational leader of men throughout his rugby league career, in Newcastle, Country, NSW and Australia. I heard that the Country chairman of selectors, Jock Colley, said Buderus should be suspended from playing for the Knights in their next encounter with the Penrith Panthers. I find that unworthy of the the Country Rugby League president.
Buderus says he is suffering from an Achilles injury. Ricky Stuart and Laurie Daley choose to accept that. Surely so should the people.
Personally, I’d like to see Buderus retire from the representative scene and concentrate on leading the Bennett-coached Knights in Kurt Gidley’s absence in his final season. But if he is fit and well and considered by the selectors as NSW’s best option for Origin, then so be it. Good luck, Danny, and thanks for the wonderful memories.
