Teen girl in induced coma after Charlestown accident

A TEENAGED girl was expected to be brought out of an induced coma last night after a van struck her in Charlestown.

An Ambulance Service of NSW spokeswoman said the 13-year-old and her mother were hit while trying to cross the Pacific Highway near Ridley Street about 8.30am yesterday.

She said the girl suffered critical head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital. Her mother suffered bruising.
